DAY 1

Morning departure from Warsaw to Bochnia – one of the oldest cities of Lesser Poland. The first known source mentioning the city is a letter from 1198. The Bochnia Salt Mine (Polish: kopalnia soli w Bochni) is one of the oldest salt mines in the world and the oldest one in Europe. The mine was established between the 12th and 13th centuries after the discovery of salt in Bochnia. Deserted chambers, shafts and passages of a so-called underground town are now open to sightseers. The largest of the preserved chambers has been converted into a sanatorium.

Lunch will be served at a local restaurant located deep within the Salt Mine.

En route to Krakow, we’ll stop in Wiśnicz, to visit Nowy Wiśnicz Castle, located on a forested hill by the River Leksandrówka. The castle was constructed in the Baroque architectural style with Renaissance elements, following a quadrilateral plan with an inner courtyard. It has four towers, one in each corner, and it’s surrounded by bastion fortifications and the main gate from the early 17th century.

Check-in at the Great Polonia Conrad Kraków Hotel, followed by dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.
